Minors: Future Skills Pathways
The world of work is rapidly changing, employers are reporting growing skills gaps amongst their workforce.
Minors provide you with the opportunity to build future-focused capabilities alongside your main degree.
Shape your studies
Designed to help you align your studies around your interests and future goals, your pathway is formally recognised on your degree certificate, for example:
- BA Philosophy with a minor in Applied AI
- BSc Neurosciences with a minor in Data Science
- BSc Geography with a minor in Education
- BSc Mathematics with a minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship
You'll have the option to choose a pathway in your first year (during Module Selection). We’ll guide you through the pathways available to help you tailor your degree as your ambitions take shape. If you're joining us as a second-year applicant, you may be eligible to choose a pathway. A pathway is available if your programme has 60 credits of elective module space in total across your second and final years (also known as Stages 2 and 3). You will study 30 credits of Minor modules in each of these years.
There are also other ways to personalise your degree, including a language proficiency pathway and interdisciplinary study options. Many students can choose to study a language through the Language Centre from Year 1, with modules available throughout your degree. Alternatively, if your programme does not allow optional credits, you also have the option of taking a course in the.
