I am a sociologist with a PhD from the University of Sussex. My research and teaching focus on the relationship between changes in society, education and sciences, and the production of structural and subjective experiences of inequalities and opportunities. I am particularly interested in understanding how transformations in knowledge and science, and their relationships with the economy and culture, shape the lives of students, academics, researchers, teachers, educational entrepreneurs and parents.
My current work explores two issues:
- The lived and affective experiences of students, academics and professionals in higher education, with a focus on those from working-class and other marginalised social backgrounds.
- The growing influence of neuroscience, psychology, coaching and self-optimisation discourses in schools and higher education institutions.
